Discovering Joy in Womanhood

Have you ever felt like we as women got the short end of the stick?

​

Your hormones make you feel insane half the time, you suffer through cramps each month, and you know that one day, it will culminate with menopause - which brings its own round of dreaded symptoms. 

​

I used to feel that way too. In college, my period cramps became intense to a level I could hardly bear, and it became a cycle of fear and pain every month. I remember one time lying on the floor with my limbs literally going numb. 

​

When I began learning more about womanhood and connecting to my body, and hearing from women all over the world that it could be a positive thing, I practiced what I was learning during my next period. That month, I got through it with positive feelings. The next month, there was no pain whatsoever. And the following periods have been the same. 

​

I have learned that there can be so much joy in womanhood. Our bodies are amazing. God has created us with the divine ability to create life, and our bodies reflect that.

​

But it doesn't feel joyful when you are stuck in a cycle of pain, or sickness, or excess bleeding. 

​
